CITY OF BARRIE - GENERAL INFORMATION

The city of Barrie is a Central Ontario leading city and most dynamic waterfront community situated just 90 km (55 miles) north of Toronto.

Barrie is a friendly, safe and vibrant city with a reputation for its high standard of living and social atmosphere. 

The City of Barrie is a growing community of approximately 131,000 persons (2007 estimate) with an annual growth rate of over 5%.  

Barrie’s close proximity to the Greater Toronto Area, beautiful properties and many amenities make it an ideal location for your real estate investment, business and place of residence. 

Located in the midst of Ontario recreational heartland, and less that one-hour’s drive from Toronto, Barrie has the best of what Central Ontario has to offer.

In addition, Barrie offers the Royal Victoria Hospital, a regional health care facility; Georgian College, which now offers university programs; a strong and diverse retail and commercial sector; and first class recreation, transportation and municipal services. 

Barrie has a diverse downtown and dynamic waterfront, which hosts many special events and activities throughout the year for families to enjoy. 



ACCESS TO BARRIE

Convenient access to Highways 401 and 407 are provided by the 400 and, highways 90, 27 and 11 provide alternate access routes to the rest of Ontario. 

Our local airport, Lake Simcoe Regional Airport, offers customs and cargo handling capability. 

The GO Train service from Toronto to Barrie provide Barrie residents with easy access to their jobs in Toronto and the GTA.

Johnson Beach Located at the end of Johnson St. (next to the Barrie Yacht Club) Minet's Point Beach Located west of Cox Mill Rd., north of Tollendal Mill Rd. 

St. Vincent Park ~ 2.47 acres Located South end of St Vincent St between Kempenfelt Dr and Blake St
